Phew, we made it! We officially entered a New Year and we precisely wished ourselves to be ‘Our Year’, yet nonetheless some of us are still questioning themselves if it’s worth investing in a new Planner? If it really makes sense planning in advance or will 2021 be again the Pajama Year?
We made thousands of Plans last year, and more than a half of them got cancelled. We got frustrated because we couldn’t mark them as done and started whining to our friends. Yet, in all this mess I’ve learned that 2020 wasn’t just a difficult year, it was a Challenge Year. It was a year where each and every day was a surprise. Where laws were changing by hours and plans were changing by minutes. It was a year of stress, Netflix and Zoom meetings and most of all it was a year of decisions. As much as I want to think that I didn’t had an agenda the last year, that much reminds me the notes on the fridge, and the Google Calendar due dates. And today I can say very confident, that 2020 was a year of accomplishments.
Not always what we wish for is the right choice for us. Like this has happened to me, while flipping through the notebook on the New Year’s Eve. I wished myself something that would bring me a couple of hours’ happy face and some Instagram stories, yet the universe gave me something better, a busier schedule and much more time for reflection and for this I’m thankful.
So, what is then the new trend for the To-Do List?
Before you start writing your schedule take some minutes and rethink your goals for the year. It is not necessary to write a dozens of them, because you start panicking for no reason. It is said: One is too little, three are too much, by this it’s meant be consistent in what you wish for. Quality over quantity. Therefore, you have in your mind the goal or even scribbled down on your list, now comes the difficult part, action. A secret that I’ve learned during the years was not to focus on the Goal itself, but to divide the Aim into smaller parts and to work on it each and every day. Another secret is not to focus only on work, but to have some fun too. Friends who supported you in difficult times are the best remedy. Your everyday List mustn’t be long and boring filled with work, Fitness and sleep. Make a list that you feel proud of it, where you combine responsibilities with a dose of joyfulness.

However, I advise you not to plan every event of your life, because the best moments are those that come spontaneous. If you get unexpectedly an invitation to a concert or a dinner party accept it without hesitation. Some of the best people I’ve met in my life were without planning a few months in advance.
Teeny Tip: Buy yourself a Planner, because sometimes the highlighters & ball point pens can give you the Illusion of getting your life together! 😉

I’ve had two challenge years in a row. I don’t know how much more I can handle at this point…

I totally understand you and hate to say that for me every year is a tough Challenge… however I still celebrate New Year and believe deep deep down that maybe this year will be the famous “My Year” Quote!
